Dr. Yuval Fouks

Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

A fertility journey is deeply personal. You deserve care that is thoughtful, precise, and grounded in the best available evidence. This site reflects my work as a fertility specialist and clinician-researcher, combining advanced reproductive medicine with truly individualized, patient-centred care.

Dr. Yuval Fouks

Hi, I'm Dr Yuval Fouks.

I'm a fertility specialist committed to helping individuals and couples achieve the best possible outcomes through a thoughtful, warm, down-to-earth approach.

I believe fertility treatment should be both deeply personal and evidence-based. I take the time to understand each person's path and goals, so treatment plans are truly tailored, not templated.

Alongside my clinical work, I'm actively involved in research and serve on editorial boards and as a reviewer for leading international journals in reproduction and infertility. This allows me to remain at the forefront of reproductive medicine and to translate the latest advances directly into patient care.

I completed many years of advanced training and clinical work internationally, including in Australia, the United States, Israel, and Italy, across world-class fertility units and centres of excellence, including Harvard University and the University of Bologna. This global experience has shaped both my clinical approach and my commitment to delivering the highest standards of care.

I also serve as the gynaecologist and fertility doctor for the Italian Consulate in Melbourne.

I currently consult at Melbourne IVF and the Public Fertility Service at the Royal Women's Hospital.

Academic Profile

50+
Peer-reviewed publications in leading journals

Author of publications in Human Reproduction, Fertility and Sterility, Reproductive BioMedicine Online, and Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.

Associate Editor for Human Reproduction and Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio). Recipient of the ASRM Fertility & Sterility Investigator Achievement Award (2023).

My research portfolio spans clinical outcomes analysis, environmental epidemiology, machine learning applications, and health systems innovation in reproductive medicine.

Research Portfolio

My research addresses central questions in reproductive medicine, developed in close collaboration with international and Australian groups. I led an analysis on diminished ovarian reserve showing that reduced AMH does not increase embryo aneuploidy or compromise live birth rates, findings that have helped refine counselling for patients with reduced ovarian reserve (Fertility and Sterility, 2022)ASRM Investigator Achievement Award 2023

Working at the intersection of environmental health and reproductive medicine, I led the development of the first high-resolution, AI-enabled exposure model linking satellite-derived PM2.5 and census geospatial data to sperm DNA fragmentation, contributing to precision environmental risk assessment in andrology (Human Reproduction, 2025). The work offers a new lens on how environmental factors may influence male fertility at a population scale.

The Fouks Score, an externally validated clinical risk score I developed, supports surgical decision-making in tubo-ovarian abscess and complicated pelvic inflammatory disease (Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, 2019). Originally designed for acute gynaecology, it has been adopted as a practical decision-support tool in a number of institutions internationally.

Machine learning runs as a thread across my research. Together with colleagues across reproductive medicine and obstetrics, I've developed US-validated predictive models for the utilisation of cryopreserved oocytes and return-to-care algorithms that inform prognostication and cryostorage policy (Reproductive BioMedicine Online, 2024). My ongoing work in real-time AI for fetal monitoring focuses on cardiotocography analysis during labour, with prospective validation in Australian and international delivery rooms, predicting fetal decelerations 2 to 3 minutes in advance using hybrid global-local models (ongoing prospective clinical trials).

Beyond clinical research, I'm committed to health systems innovation, developing remote-cycle management frameworks and resource allocation models to address accessibility challenges in publicly funded fertility services. This work, presented at FSANZ 2025, focuses on equity and access in reproductive care (health systems research and policy translation).
